This XPS has an industrial silver aluminium lid on which the black Dell logo rests. Gives it the Classic look that we can expect from a premium laptop. Its design probably gives the best competition to Macbook’s durable design as a windows laptop.
The screen is crazily thin and opens up single-handedly. The bezels are thin as well which adds to the 4k display like a feather in a golden cap
The inside of the surface is crafted out of smooth black carbon fibre that makes it feel really soft and even lasts long. It looks as if the keyboard cover sheet took the shape of the chassis The contrast between interior and exterior will make it stand out in your workplace.
XPS 15 9560 comes in two variations, an FHD Display and a 4k UHD Touchscreen Display. Both variations have their pros and cons. The FHD screen is matte which means it is not reflective, unlike the UHD which is glossier. This means that the sunlight won’t reflect easily on the FHD screen variant.
But for guys who don’t use their laptop outside, the 4k screen does a super distinctive job at giving a mesmerizing movie watching experience. The 4k version also costs more than the FHD version.
The colour reproduction on both the XPS versions is very detailed. Plus the brightness maxes out at 371 nits (300+ is great for outdoors). This nonchalantly makes the UHD version better than the 4k version
The most widely available version of XPS 15 has an Intel i5 7th gen processor with 8 GB DDR4 RAM. Multitasking is a piece of cake for the XPS. ‘
You won’t feel problems even with 18 chrome tabs and multiple software opened in the background. Working is made very efficient and lightning-fast in the XPS. But the newer 9570 version of the XPS 15 has even better performance due to an 8th gen i7 processor.
It is equipped with an Nvidia GTX 1050 GDDR5 with 4 GB VRAM. Heavy games like GTA V and Fallout are very much enjoyable in high settings. The fan noise is audible in a quiet room, so you’re better off using a pair of headphones
There are multiple options for storage in the XPS 15. The default one stands at a 256 GB SSD which can be upgraded up to 1 TB PCIe SSD for the best storage and speed.
You can always install an HDD for storage space. It is cheaper than buying a costly SSD.
The XPS 15 9560 has an ultimately long run time for an Ultrabook. You can surf the internet with normal brightness for more than 11 hours, which is amazing.
BUT THERE IS A CATCH!! The 4k UHD has about 7 hours of battery backup. So you would have to sacrifice a longer battery run time for the 4k touchscreen option.
On the right side, there is the second type-A port, SD card slot, a security slot and a unique battery usage indicator with 5 lights.
The touchpad is 4 x 3.1 inches and offers a perfect area to navigate the screen. It is two-finger scrolling enabled.
There is a fingerprint sensor below the ‘right arrow’ button. Not the best place to put one because anywhere near the touchpad or even the power is more accessible.
The speakers are positioned under the keyboard, which muffles the sound, which you can easily experience once you lift up the keyboard. Still, they produce a loud and clear sound. Beats are crisp and clean to hear without any distortion.
But high pitch sounds may create a little fuss, otherwise, the speakers produce flawless sound in spite of being positioned like the older version laptops.
The Dell XPS 9560 is by no doubt a great laptop for people who enjoy video/photo editing, movies and workplace software.
Even medium level gaming can be done pretty well because of the 4 GB NVIDIA GTX 1050. The 7th gen processor works good but can be updated. Only the webcam seems to be a little different, rest of the things work in the favour of the Dell XPS 15.
