✔ Best allocation of ports
✔ Great value for money
✔ Good sound quality
❌ Below average battery life
❌ A little bit heavier than other devices
Dell’s Vostro 3568 is a new update in the Vostro 3000 series. It has some really unique features that don’t come in other laptops but comes with a few basic drawbacks that give users second thoughts.
It’s available in Windows 10 Home (great news for Windows users), has an antiglare screen, offers a 7th gen Intel core i3 (competitors are still stuck with 6th gen). Other features such as the display and build are the same as most of the laptops that ask for a similar price.
Vostro has a good port distribution, but sill no USB Type-C. Overall, Dell’s Vostro is a great combination of performance specs and functionality, which is what you can expect in a low budget laptop.

Dell’s Vostro 3568 looks like an average low-budget laptop with a few extra qualities. It is made wholly of plastic with a few metal adjustments here and there, like the logo, which is made of metal. The lid has a matte finish that makes it a fingerprint magnet. On the inside, the keyboard sits deeper than the chassis and has some flex as well.
With a weight of around 2.2 Kg, the Vostro feels heavy to carry around, which is why it’s not recommended for salespeople or someone who travels a lot. The hinge is sturdy but on the downside, it makes the lid harder to lift.
the body is made of hard plastic and has a great build quality that can last long. Though the bezels look wide and ugly, you would have to upgrade to better laptops for a more premium look.
Sadly, the display in the Vostro isn’t colourful enough, and the sadder part is that it is visible. Also, a screen resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels isn’t meant for a screen bigger than 15 inches. The creators didn’t add any value here, which is really disappointing.
The screen is bright, at least for an anti-glare display. The viewing angles are also better than most anti-glare screens. This is one of the few laptops that didn’t sacrifice anything else for an antiglare screen. Other laptops either have low brightness or have bad viewing angles. This one has none.
This laptop outperforms quite a few laptops with its performance. This one being the base model has 4 GB DDR4 RAM, an Intel i3-7020U and Intel HD 620 integrated graphics. The RAM can be upgraded up to 16 GB. So if you are a gamer, you can upgrade the RAM but that would be costlier than buying a laptop with 8 GB RAM.
The i3 processor isn’t the most powerful, but it is battery-efficient. If you want to get anything useful out of this laptop, then at least upgrade the RAM and graphics.
Graphic designers aren’t going to love the laptop because of the display, but some decent gaming can be done given that you get a good graphics card.
You get 1 TB space in the Dell Vostro through a Mechanical Hard Drive. It is big enough to store most files but makes the laptop slower than it should be. There is a slot for an SSD as well.
It’s better to buy an HDD laptop and purchase an SSD externally than buying costly laptops (50000 plus) with inbuilt SSDs. In 2019, HDDs are becoming more and more irrelevant because of their disadvantages, which is why you should opt for an SSD.
The Vostro could have been a lot better in functionality if the battery life would have been longer. It is good but not at par with the average 6.5 hours level that every normal laptop should be giving.
Moderate usage makes the Vostro last for about 4.5-5 hours on an average. If you’d wish to watch movies and play games, that time would reduce to less than 2 hours.
Dell has made a major breakthrough in the low-budget laptop market through the Vostro 3568, as far as ports are concerned. This is one of the few laptops to have an Ethernet port, a VGA port and an HDMI port all in a single body.
RIGHT: (1) SD card reader (2) Combo jack (headset and microphone) (3) USB 2.0 port (4) DVD drive (5) Kensington lock
LEFT: (6) AC power (7) Ethernet port (8) VGA port (9) HDMI port (10) 2 USB 3.0 ports
The keyboard is an Island-style keyboard with numeric pad. You get to see these kinds of keyboards in most of the 15-inch laptops. The chassis flexes a lot which can be experienced while typing on the lap. The keys are well spaced but have short travel, which is compensated by the tactile feedback and a 50+ actuation force (more than average).
The touchpad is buttonless and is made of plastic. It flexes a lot as well while pressing the buttons. Windows precision drivers are installed in the inbuilt Windows 10 version which helps in multi-finger gestures.
The Wavesmaxx audio system installed in this laptop is loud and clear, at least to some extent. No distortions are found even at extremely high or low pitches.
The bass in the audio system is on the low side. Still, it is sufficient to produce good quality audio overall.
The Dell Vostro 15’s newest edition has some serious qualities, even in the base version as well, which is why it is useful for the average employee or student, who like to work on their laptop (textually) and do nothing else.
This laptop is not suitable for guys who want a good video watching experience or want to carry out graphic designing as a career or want to play 3D games. They would have to look for higher-end laptops to get things done.
