✔ Great performance
✔ Long battery life
✔ 1080p FHD display
❌ Heavier than its counterparts
Aspire 3 is one of the most value-for-money laptops manufactured by Acer. It offers the best performance that you can get in a laptop for 30000-35000 (or less depending upon the time). It also looks like a modern laptop.
Though the body is thicker and heavier than most everyday-use laptops, it gets compensated by more useful things such as the FHD display, Radeon graphics, good battery life and performance.

The Acer Aspire 3 looks much like its sibling Aspire 5, except that it is made of plastic and Aspire 5 is not. Still, its look makes it better than most low-budget laptops out there. Its plastic body has a brushed texture, all over the lid and even around the chassis. The air vents are installed right at the back of the hinge and give room for airflow.
The overall aesthetics of the Acer Aspire aren’t very appealing to look at. Its body is thick and weighs more than other similar laptops. The bezels aren’t thin, unlike the Aspire 5, but we hope to see some upgrades in the upcoming years.
The whole body is sturdy except the keyboard which has some flex to it. It is positioned inwardly as well which makes the mechanism hollow, resulting in flex. Other than that, the build is durable and can last long.
This is one of the few low-priced laptops that have an FHD display. It has a detailed resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Graphics are clear and crisp and give this laptop a big advantage over the competition.
The screen’s look is overshadowed by huge bezels on all sides. And for worse, the FHD panel isn’t bright at all. Even getting par 220 nits is a tough job for this screen. This is followed by a dull colour reproduction. If the brightness was just a little bit vivid, the Aspire could have taken a lead in the world of low-budget laptops.
Acer Aspire’s screen is meant for the average budding graphics designer who does not have enough budget for a premium laptop. You can run some Photoshop or After Effects on the laptop, but its screen isn’t meant for identifying colours.
With an 8 GB DDR4 RAM, an AMD Reyzen 5 2500U processor an Radeon Vega 8 graphics, the Acer Aspire 3 is probably the most powerful laptop you can get under or around 30000. It can run big, RAM consuming applications with ease. Daily tasks, emails and multiple browser tabs won’t pressurise the CPU much.
Some gaming can also be done with the help of Radeon graphics. But don’t expect anything big out of it. Only medium titles run smooth, and that too on ultra-low graphic settings. Older versions of CS or Call of Duty are enjoyable at 45+ FPS. You can still expect minor frame skipping and lags here and there.
For a better experience, install some VRAM space through a better graphics card (preferably an AMD powered card), like Radeon R5 or Pro.
The base variant of Aspire 3 comes with 1 TB space in the form of a Mechanical Hard Drive. To make this laptop an ultimate beast that provides the exact same potential as a 40-50000 Rupee laptop, you can install an SSD. There is an extra slot for it.
SSD’s impact the overall performance of a laptop in a positive manner. Installing your Windows in an SSD does even better to your laptop. The overall cost increases, but so does the long-term stability of your laptop.
This laptop has a 37 WHr lithium-ion battery that lasts longer than the average notebooks, but it is still less as far as practical usage is concerned.
Acer claims that it runs for 6 hours, which is just shy short of the actual runtime. It lasts for about 5.5 hours, maybe less, if you don’t use it conservatively. Anyways, you would need a charger with you every time you go out with it.
Aspire 3 has a good number of ports, distributed very well on both sides. But the sides still lack a Type-C USB port which is available in newer laptops.
LEFT: Kensington Security slot, HDMI, USB 3.0 port, SD card reader
RIGHT: Charging slot, 2 USB 2.0 ports, Audio jack
The Aspire 3 has an island-style keyboard with the numeric pad. You can get a full-sized keyboard in other models of the Aspire 3. Regardless of the variant, the keyboard rests on a lower level than the rest of the body, which makes it prone to some flex. But it has a pretty good key travel and the keys are spaced as well.
The trackpad is smaller than most trackpads out there and barely covers the average width. There are no button figures on the trackpad, just plain, plastic surface. Windows 10 precision drivers come preinstalled so that multi-finger gestures are accessible on the trackpad.
Audio quality in the Aspire is pretty average, if not less. The bass lacks depth and the overall sound production is just enough for you to enjoy your music or youtube in a quiet room.
The Acer Aspire 3 series is one of the most affordable laptop series out there in the market. It has some serious models that are made to be more useful than the price they have asked for, one of them being the A315-41.
This laptop offers the best setup for groundbreaking performance and even some top-notch display features, at least for a low-budget laptop. This is the reason why it is the most useful for a student who does not travel a lot and wants to do games as well as some photoshop.
People who want a really long battery won’t like this laptop, and it is heavy as well. So the guys who travel a lot should consider lightweight laptops such as netbooks or premium notebooks instead of the bigger laptops like the Acer Aspire 3.
